My review of the NEW flavours of microwave slices from Wall's Pastry - the Nacho Chilli Cheese Slice and the Piri-Piri Chicken Slice, including some tasty serving suggestions!

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to try the new range of microwave slices from Wall's Pastry - the Mexican Chicken Fajita Slice and a Chilli Beef Burrito Slice (you can read my review of them here: Wall's Pastry Microwave Slices Review).
Today I'm sharing my thoughts on the two brand new flavours that have recently been added to the range - the Nacho Chilli Cheese Slice and the Piri-Piri Chicken Slice.
The slices are wrapped in Wall’s Pastry’s extra-tasty pastry and have been designed specifically to be heated in the microwave, but they can be eaten cold too, so they're perfect for an easy on-the-go snack.
If heating them, the pastry slices are designed to be microwaved in the packet - you just open one end and pop it in the microwave to heat for 2 minutes. When I first tried the slices I was worried that pastry heated in the microwave would be soggy, but the packaging includes a cardboard tray which soaks up any moisture from the heating process. The pastry is nice and thick, which gives it a kind of bread like wrap feel which compliments the fillings nicely.
As with the original flavours, the new slices have plenty of flavour. The Nacho Chilli Cheese slice is deliciously cheesy, which when heated has a gorgeous oozy cheese texture. The Piri-Piri Chicken Slice has a mild kick to it with yummy chunks of chicken, peppers and sweetcorn.
Below you'll find some serving suggestions for the pastry slices. I've paired them with a couple of new recipes that I recently created, taking inspiration from the slices themselves.
First up the Nacho Chilli Cheese Slice, which is made with sweet potato and mature cheddar cheese, blended with beans and green chillies. I was inspired by this slice to create a new recipe for microwave nachos, which makes a quick and easy crunchy side dish to complement the slice. Check out the Microwave Nachos recipe here on the blog - it's a brand new recipe that I've published today alongside this review.
This would be a fun treat meal to eat at home or pack for an office lunch - just assemble the nachos and heat them up to eat alongside a yummy Nacho Chilli Cheese Slice.
Next, the Piri-Piri Chicken Slice, which is filled with succulent chicken, sweetcorn and peppers in a Piri-Piri marinade. I paired this with a portion of my quick and easy Sweetcorn Salad recipe for a tasty veg-filled meal the whole family will enjoy.
This would also make a great meal to pack for a work lunch or take on a family picnic this summer.
Overall, I'm really impressed with the new flavour slices and really like the new fillings. I think they make a great addition to the range - now there really is a flavour for everyone!
