Surprise the kids with this cute wormy apple snack! This fun apple snack for kids is quick and easy to make and great for fun party food too!
Fancy a wormy apple? This completely edible fun snack idea for kids is perfect for an after school snack, garden themed party food or for serving up as a cute but gross food option at a Halloween party!
As you may have seen in my last blog post, or if you follow Eats Amazing over on Instagram (and if not, why not?! - go follow me right now!), I worked with Mini Babybel on a really fun project this summer.
I created lots of fun recipes and tutorials that feature their brand new Babybel Mini Rolls and along with the easy celery bugs that I shared here on the blog last week, these cute wormy apples were one of my favourite creations for the project.
This was an Instagram only campaign (I was commissioned to create photography and recipes especially to share on Instagram) but I enjoyed the project so much that I decided to share some of my recipes here on the blog too, so took some extra photos of my favourite creations with that in mind.
Whilst this blog post is not an official ‘ad’, I was paid to create the original recipe, as recently shared on Instagram.
I hope you enjoy this fun recipe, it went down a storm with my boys! I'll be recreating these wormy apples for a fun snack for them this Halloween, I think the worms turned out quite cute really but the idea of wormy apples is definitely gross enough for Halloween season!
A quick safety note before I share the recipe – please be sure to check for allergies before serving peanut butter at a party. If you do need to avoid nuts, try substituting the peanut butter with a seed butter instead.
Wormy Apple Fun Snack Recipe
Ingredients (serves 1):
- 1 apple
- 1 heaped Tbsp smooth peanut butter
- 1 Babybel Mini Roll
- 8 mini candy eyeballs
Method:
Slice the apple horizontally into 4 slices. If not serving immediately, you can brush the slices with a little apple juice to prevent browning.
Using an apple corer, mini circle cutter or a sharp knife, cut the central core from each apple slice.
Pat the cut sides of the apple slices dry with a piece of kitchen paper – this will help the peanut butter to stick to the apple better.
Spread peanut butter over two of the slices and place the other slices on top to form apple sandwiches.
Unwrap the Babybel Mini Roll and carefully unroll it. Cut into 4 pieces for the worms.
Using a dab of peanut butter as edible glue, stick 2 candy eyes onto one end of each cheese ‘worm’
Push the other end of the cheese worms into the cored centre of the apple slices or into the peanut butter.
Serve immediately and enjoy!

Disclosure: I was commissioned to create a series of recipes featuring Babybel Mini Rolls to share on Instagram this summer but I enjoyed the project so much that I’ve also chosen to share some of my recipes here on the Eats Amazing blog. I was gifted some Babybel Mini Rolls to use in my recipe development and photography and I was compensated for my time spent creating recipes and photos for this project, however all opinions expressed in this post are my own.
