The school lunch is drawing to a close (12 more lunches left to pack for me, not that I'm counting!) and lunch packing fatigue is definitely starting to set in! I haven't shared a lot of new packed lunches here on the blog this year, but I have been making them, day in, day out. My 9 year old has also helped to make his lunches a lot, he likes getting involved, especially with adding fun decorations! Like most parents, my life is rather hectic so I don't always get a chance to photograph said lunches, let alone get them written up for the blog, but I do have a very large collection of unseen lunch idea photos in my archives now so I'll do my best to share some of them here on the blog over the coming months.
I also created and shared my first meme on this theme over on the Eats Amazing Facebook page a few weeks ago and it reached over a million people, so I'm guessing it struck a chord with quite a few of you! There may have been a little exaggeration involved (I promise I don't actually send a dry crust of bread for my son's lunch!) but seriously, I have definitely had enough of packing lunches for this school year!
With that in mind, here's an actual lunch I packed for my son recently. It first glance it might look like there was a lot of effort involved, but it was a really quick and simple lunch which I jazzed up with a few fun panda themed bento accessories.
In this lunch I packed the following:
- Sandwiches; Mortadella sausage slices on seeded bread
- Carrot sticks and sugar snap peas
- Fresh strawberries
- Mini cheese cubes
- Yogurt covered raisins (in the mini panda container)
This lunch was packed in a simple rectangle lunch box by Happy Jackson, which I divided up with extra large silicone muffin cups. I gave it a panda theme by using panda mini bento forks, panda bento picks and a mini panda food container.
