This simple circus themed lunch is a great demonstration of how packing bento style and using food picks can really make a simple and possible boring lunch seem really fun! I used up some leftovers from the day before too, which always makes packing lunch that little bit easier.
In this lunch Small Child had leftover roast beef, sliced and rolled up, leftover roast potatoes, strips of raw yellow pepper (under the cucumber), cucumber slices, cut into flower shapes using a mini bento cutter, organic natural yoghurt, with a drizzle of honey swirled into it, red and green grapes and blueberries. I decorated the lunch with circus picks, and created a couple of performing seals by popping the green grapes onto cute seal picks. I finished the lunch off with a little treat of a small white chocolate coin.
On the way home from school I heard a friend ask Small Child what he'd had for lunch. His reply was 'A circus', so this lunch obviously made an impression!
