Good morning, I have another alphabet lunch for you today. I found this letter (N) a little trickier then the last lunch (M), but I got there in the end! The Noisy Naan breads were Small Child's idea - they didn't turn out quite how I initially visualised them but he was really pleased with them. The idea was based on the sound effect boxes you get for loud noises in comics - he's been enjoying comics recently and I'm happy to indulge him - all reading is good reading as far as I'm concerned! Anyway, I was racking my brains for a creative idea to do with a Naan bread that would tie in with the letter N, and that was his idea - to make them Noisy Naans!
In this lunch Small Child had a pile of Noisy Naan Breads (see details below), a carrot Nest (I cut the carrots into 'twigs' using a julienne peeler), topped with cucumber eggs cut using a mini bento cutter, some ham, rolled and skewered on N alphabet picks, a Babybel cheese Ninja (many thanks to Lou at Tea, Crochet and Me for the inspired Ninja Babybel idea!) which I made by cutting a rectangle from the wax and dotting eyes on using an edible marker pen, a Nectarine, stoned, sliced and decorated with music Note picks, and finally some Natural yoghurt. I added a few chocolate eggs leftover from Easter to the smallest compartment, although Small Child told me off because eggs don't begin with N! I explained that they were extra eggs to go with the Nest, and that satisfied him enough to allow me to leave them in there!
Here is a close up of our Noisy Naans. I cut jagged circles from a plain Naan bread using a round scone cutter, then wrote a 'Noisy' word as suggested by Small Child on each one with an edible marker pen. He came up with Pop! Bang! Crash! and Smash! for the words, I was really impressed with his imaginative idea!
This lunch was another success, he ate the lot!
