Good morning, are you ready for another alphabet lunch? Today's letter is I, and I played a bit of a joke on Small Child with this one!
While I was preparing this lunch, I called him in to look at it (he likes to see the finished lunches before I put them in his lunch bag), and presented him with this, his Invisible lunch! He wasn't quite sure what to make of it, but I relented after he asked several times "are you joking Mummy? Tell me the truth!". An Invisible lunch would definitely have been easier than any other I themed lunch, I really struggled coming up with Ideas for this one!
In this lunch Small Child had a quesadilla (filled with cheddar cheese, ham and finely chopped red pepper), cut into I themed shapes of Ice-creams and Instruments. I added cherries to the Ice-creams with polka-dot picks, and drew details on them all with edible marker pens. On the side he had slices of cucumber, with carrot Is inserted into the middle of each one, and an apple, carved into an Igloo. I also threw in an Insect for good measure (plastic, for decoration only!). I thought this lunch seemed quite small, so I filled a reusable food pouch with organic vanilla yoghurt and added it to his lunch bag.
Small Child ate all of this lunch. By the way, if you're thinking that the apple doesn't really look like an Igloo, I don't blame you, Small Child didn't think it did either! In fact he had no idea what it was supposed to be, and had to ask me after school. He thought it was a turtle, but couldn't work out why it would be in an I themed lunch! Oh well, I tried, and should get points for effort I think! Can you think of any better ideas for an I themed lunch? I'd love to hear them!
