Today I have a really simple fun food idea for you that is perfect for autumn - easy grape acorns! These are so simple to make and a fun way to present fruit at this time of year.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Grapes can be a choking hazard and should be sliced length ways before serving to younger children - this recipe should not be served to children aged 5 and under.
Be sure to check out my recipe video so you can see just how easy these are to make!
This is a great recipe for kids to make themselves, it's so simple and of course the end result is really tasty! It would make a fun treat for party food or to pack in a lunch box - perfect for adding an autumn theme to their school lunch.
Easy Grape Acorns
Ingredients:
- 100g dark chocolate
- ½ punnet green grapes
Method:
Line a small baking tray with non-stick baking paper. Be sure to check that the tray will fit inside your fridge before you line it.
Wash and dry the grapes, making sure that they are as dry as possible.
Break the dark chocolate into pieces and place in a small microwave safe bowl.
Melt the chocolate in the microwave in 30 second bursts, stirring between each one to ensure it melts evenly. Be careful not to overheat or burn the chocolate, heat only until just melted and smooth.
Dip the grapes into the chocolate to cover the bottom third of each grape. Hold the grape over the bowl so that any excess chocolate drips off, then carefully place on the lined baking tray.
Repeat until you have made as many grape acorns as you want, then place the tray of grapes into the fridge for 10-15 minutes until set.
Store in the fridge until ready to serve.
Enjoy!
