Pizza Whirls & #FunFoodFriday

Today's fun food from me is a very easy lunch that I threw together quickly and jazzed up with the help of some of my favourite food picks - eyeballs and hats!  I had made home-made pizza the night before (see my recipe here), and used some of the leftover dough to make mini pizza whirl rolls.  To make them, I rolled out the dough, spread it with some of the leftover tomato sauce then sprinkled with cheddar cheese and leftover pepperoni slices before rolling it up and cutting into rounds.  I baked them in the oven with the pizza, then let them cool before putting some aside for lunch and freezing the rest for future use.  I was very pleased to have lunch already half made for me the next morning!

In this lunch Small Child had two mini pizza whirl rolls, with tomato sauce, cheese and pepperoni.  On the side he had raw yellow pepper strips, sugar snap peas and grapes, which I threaded onto mini skewers to make 'grape kebabs'.  He also had some natural yoghurt, topped with a few smiley face sprinkles, and some dried apricots.  I decorated the whole lunch with the eye picks, and added a few hat picks for good measure.  I also popped a spoon from our mini bento cutlery set in his lunch bag for the yoghurt.

Small Child absolutely loved this lunch, and there wasn't a crumb left when I picked him up from school!  The photo is still making me laugh, I think those eye picks are so funny!
