I mentioned in one of my earliest posts that I was working on a list of foods to keep me inspired when thinking about what to put into Small Child's lunchbox on a day to day basis. Today I finally got round to typing it up and I'm happy to say I've even worked out how to put it into PDF form so that you can print off a copy of it for yourself.
The idea is to have the list handy when you're planning or preparing lunches (I've stuck mine on the fridge), so that when you are stuck for ideas you can refer to the list for inspiration, or just to jog your memory.
I've listed the foods in the four main categories recommended by the 'Eatwell Plate', in order to help create a more balanced lunch. I will be aiming to get something from each food group into each lunchbox, most of the time!
To view the list, click this link or the image below to open the PDF file. It should open in a new window so you can download and print it.
This is by no means an exhaustive list; I expect to update it as new food ideas occur to me. If you see anything really obvious missing, or have suggestions for foods that could be added to the list, do please comment!

Ha, I'm loving that you German sausage slices in there! Yannick loves those too - obviously! 🙂

I absolutely love them - we used to bring stacks of them home from our holidays in Germany each summer. The stuff you get here just isn't the same but better than nothing!

To get our supplies of German style cold meats at a price that doesn't break the bank, I'm going to Lidl in Eastleigh every two weeks and I've discovered a nice little Polish delicatessen shop in the town centre where you can buy a good selection for an even better price. It's very similar to German stuff and my boys love whatever I buy there. Maybe that's something for you to look at too every now and then - or if you want to I could get some for you as well.

Better send me an email rather than answering here - then I don't have to come back and check all the time. 😛

Great list! I'm pencilling in seaweed and Tamago (japanese rolled egg, sort of like a slightly sweet scrambled egg/omelet that is good cold) to my copy of the list. Tamago is one of our favorites that we discovered at a sushi shop and we learned to make at home.
I'll also probably add another sheet for favorite combination foods like sushi that I wont think of if looking at individual component lists, and mark which food groups each item has. Still trying to get my teens to eat healthy lunches (when they assemble their own lunches)!
