Funbites Review & A Giveaway!

Today I am very excited to be writing my first product review. I was really pleased to be contacted by FunBites and offered one of their products to try, and Small Child was very excited when it arrived!

The FunBites cutter currently comes in two shapes; the green ‘Cube It’ and the pink ‘Luv It’.  I chose to try the Cube It, as the idea of cutting food into neat little squares appealed to my overactive sense of neatness and order!

FunBites Cube It and Luv It Cutters

The cutters can be used to cut almost anything into little shapes, and I imagine it would be brilliant for those with children just starting to eat as a quick way to cut up baby/toddler food.  I have seen a lot of great ideas for using the cutters by several of my fellow bloggers, so decided to see if I could come up with something new.

I tried them out first on tortilla wraps, with the idea of making bite-size tortilla crisps (my tutorial for tortilla crisps can be found here).  I found that it cut through cleanly and easily, and as the cutter comes with an insert that pushes the bits out after cutting, it was a quick and easy experience, with no messing around trying to get the pieces out once cut (a common problem with a lot of cutters, especially those cutting tiny shapes).

After I cut the first batch out, I decided to try colouring the tortilla wrap to make it a little more fun.  I painted pieces of tortilla wrap with a little food colouring mixed with water before cutting them with the Cube It, then proceeded to bake all of them.  They didn’t take long to cook, being small, so I’d advise keeping an eye on them if you try this.

They came out beautifully, and I had the basis for an edible mosaic activity for Small Child on my hands.  I then used the cutter on long slices of raw carrot and cucumber (both were easy to cut using the Cube It), and put all the pieces into a silicone muffin tin for him.

I gave Small Child a plain white plate, and let him unleash his creativity! He has really been enjoying a book about the Romans recently, as well as a recent visit to a local museum which has a real Roman mosaic floor on display, so he was really excited to try this out.  He made several mosaic ‘pictures’ then ate each of them up before making a new one.

Edible Mosaic with the FunBites Cube It

This was a really fun activity for both of us, and was made easy by the FunBites Cube It.  If you would like any more information about FunBites cutters, you can visit the website here.  For UK readers, the FunBites cutters are also available from www.monstersandmunchkins.com.  I’ll be trying out the cutter in different ways over the next week or so, so do keep checking back for new ideas. FunBites Cube It Cutter

I have noticed something strange. I have entered the contest everyday since it started and it shows only 4 entries. There were at least 4 the first day and one extra entry per day and a 6 day contest, I should have at least 9 entries? Some entries are disappearing or not being counted.

    • Grace Hall says:

      Hi Lisa,

The rafflecopter is not currently showing recent entries so I can’t check your individual entries, but I believe it resets your entry number each day – so the entries you can only do once ie leave a comment/become a Facebook fan it shows up as being constantly there, but the extra entries you can earn daily don’t show up until you have done them that day. Hope that makes sense; I’m sure that the rafflecopter is not deleting any entries, you just can’t see them all.
