Space Themed Lego Lunch Box

I've been using a variety of lunchboxes recently, in part because I'm currently working on an equipment recommendations page (coming soon!) and wanted to try them all out again, and also because I have quite a collection of boxes and it's a shame not to use them all! I have my favourites of course (the Yumbox and Laptop Lunches box coming top of the list) but there are many kind of lunchboxes suitable for bento available here in the UK now, which are all good for different reasons. Today's lunch was packed in our Lego Lunchbox, which is the perfect size for bento and a big favourite of my Lego-mad Small Child. I took my lead from the star shaped biscuits that I packed, and made it space themed.

In this lunch Small Child had star shaped homemade cheese and poppy seed biscuits (recipe to follow soon), a Babybel cheese, with a planet cut from the wax to decorate, raw yellow pepper sticks and sugar snap peas, decorated with a rocket and moon cut from the yellow pepper, dried fruit (mixed vine fruits and chopped apricots) decorated with rocket picks, a clementine, a couple of Bear Yoyos (dried fruit rolls) decorated with a few star sprinkles, and a handful of mini pretzels. I popped a silicone divider next to the clementine to separate and keep the pretzels dry and crispy.

I also added a reusable food pouch filled with organic vanilla yoghurt to his lunch bag (not shown). Small Child got very excited when he saw me packing this lunch, and brought down a couple of LEGO space men to show me. They found their way into the picture but we decided that it was best not to take them to school for fear they might get lost. The yellow Lego blocks in the picture below are the lids for the Lego snack boxes. They are so cute, and perfect to hold little bits and pieces!

Small Child ate most of this lunch, leaving one of the biscuits, some of the peas and pepper sticks, and some of the dried fruit, all of which he finished off as an after school snack. He has also been playing with his Lego space men frequently ever since - I seem to keep finding them wherever I go around the house!
