Another October day, another Halloween lunch! Today it was the Halloween Pumpkin's turn to shine in a lunch box! I was inspired after seeing a cute orange 'pumpkin' by Sarah at Zoe's Lunchbox, and made the rest of the lunch pumpkin themed to match.
In this lunch Small Child had a ham sandwich on granary bread, cut into a circle and decorated with an edible food marker, scraps of ham and a little leaf pick to make it look like a Halloween Pumpkin. On the side he had some raw carrot disks, cut into pumpkin shapes using a mini cookie cutter, a clementine 'pumpkin' and a serving of organic strawberry yoghurt, frozen into a pumpkin shape using a silicone mould.
Here's a close up of the clementine pumpkin. As you can see I cut shapes from the skin and peeled them away to make the face, and added another leaf pick to finish it off. Simple and effective, many thanks to Sarah for the great idea!
Small Child told me this morning that he's really loving his Halloween lunches, so I'm guessing I'll be making a few more before the week is over!
