Welcome to Fun Food Friday! Have you been making any fun food recently? Whether it be lovely lunches, creative cakes, or a recipe you’ve blogged, please link up below and share the inspiration around. Anything goes, as long as it’s edible!
For today's lunch I tried out something new; pocket sandwiches! I've seen them around on many a bento blog, but never tried them before because they seemed a bit complicated. I recently got my hands on the new CuteZcute Animal Palz Set though, which is designed to make pocket sandwiches as well as mould boiled eggs, so I thought it was about time I gave pocket sandwiches a go. I followed the instructions and took the advice to microwave the bread for a few seconds before using, and it couldn't be easier! I was worried they wouldn't work with the wholemeal seeded bread I had to hand, but as you can see they turned out great. They would probably have looked even better with white bread, but Small Child loved them just as they were.
In this lunch Small Child had panda pocket sandwiches filled with tuna mayonnaise. I used the panda design (there are 4 animals in the set) and went over the impressions with an edible marker pen to make them stand out more. On the side he had some lightly steamed broccoli, raw carrot and stripy beetroot flowers, grapes, a peeled clementine and some organic natural yoghurt. I decorated the lunch with a star shaped silicone cup, panda picks, panda fork picks and some bear shaped sprinkles on the yoghurt.
This lunch was a big hit with Small Child, who loved his super cute sandwiches!
