Small Child was back to school last week, and couldn’t wait to take lunch in his new alien lunch bag! I was very sad to see him go back; we’ve had such a lovely summer, especially as the weather has been on our side for most of it. Time is marching on however, and my big boy is now in Year 1!
Here he is on his first day back to school, proudly carrying his lunch, which he refused to let me carry for him. In the panic of having to manage the school run with Small Baby in tow, it looks like I forgot to brush his hair, but hey, I’m only human and I packed a cool lunch instead!
In his lunch Small Child had soft cheese and ham rolled sandwiches, skewered with alphabet picks, carrot sticks cut using a crinkle cutter, cucumber letters spelling out ‘YEAR 1′, a Babybel cheese decorated with a leaf pick to make it look like an apple, green grapes and strawberry hearts, and a mini chocolate bear for a treat. I finished the lunch off with a couple of crayon picks to decorate.
As there was quite a lot of food I told Small Child to just eat what he wanted and leave the rest for an after school snack. He did quite well at lunchtime, leaving only a few of the carrot sticks, the Babybel cheese and one sandwich roll, which he ate on the way home.
Are you packing lunches this year? In case you missed it yesterday, I’m currently running a giveaway in which you could win your own Laptop Lunches bento kit (the lunch box I packed this lunch in). Click here for the giveaway post, where you can enter via the rafflecopter at the bottom of the page.
