Small Child really likes rice, so I often save a little leftover rice from dinner the night before to make a rice salad for his lunch. A little can go a long way, especially with some added ‘extras’ like chopped pepper, cucumber, carrot, tomato, raisins etc. I sometimes shape the rice and let him do the mixing, or mix it all together so it’s ready to eat.
In this lunchbox, he had some leftover basmati rice, shaped with a cookie cutter into a square, decorated with red pepper features, with chopped red pepper and raisins to mix in with it. On the side he had some German sausage slices, rolled and skewered onto picks, and some crinkle cut raw carrot slices in a silicone cup.

For dessert he had a peeled and sliced kiwi fruit, decorated with a ladybird cupcake pick, some fruit juice stars with a little frog pick, some raspberry organic yoghurt in a car-shaped tub and some ‘banana crisps’ (dried banana slices).

If you’d like to give bento lunches a try yourself, don’t forget to enter my ’bento starter kit’ giveaway, which includes the boxes that I used for this lunch!
