Today’s post has a book based lunch. Small Child recently chose ‘Aliens in Underpants Save the World’ from the school library. On the way home he told me that he’d chosen a book about space. When we got home and read it, he was delighted to find that it was actually a book about pants! I’m assured by all of my friends that boys never grow out of this love of anything relating to ‘toilet humour’! I decided to make him a lunch in honour of the book, as he enjoyed it so much.
In this lunch he had a cheese & marmite sandwich, cut into a start shape, a boiled egg alien (decorated with edible pen and food picks) in a star shaped silicone cup, carrot stars, pretzel sticks and a couple of pairs of carrot underpants!
For dessert he had a banana, cut in half and pressed with stars to decorate (they would have shown up by lunchtime), and a couple of apple aliens, decorated with carving, star sprinkles and food picks. Both the cut ends of the banana and the apple were brushed with a little lemon juice to prevent them browning.
Small Child informed me that all the boys liked this lunch, especially the underpants!
